The lake is a great place to camp, fish, boat and picnic. Enjoy the natural beauty of the lake and the Chattahoochee River, as well as the gracious antebellum mansions located in nearby historic towns, such as Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia. The lake, sometimes referred to as Lake Eufaula, extents 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River and borders the states of Alabama and Georgia. With 640 miles of shoreline, Walter F. George Lake offers plenty of room for all of your favorite camping, outdoor and water related activities. 

The Walter F. George Lake day use parks include: Highland Park, Hardridge Creek Day Use Park, White Oak Creek Day Use Park, Hatchechubbee Creek Park located on the Alabama side of the lake. East Bank Park, Pataula Creek Park, Cool Branch Park and River Bluff Park are located on the Georgia side of the lake.

While many people visit the area to fish or camp, Walter F. George Lake also offers 13 Corps of Engineers Day Use Parks for public use. The parks offer a variety of recreation facilities including, fishing, picnic tables, swimming beaches, horse-shoe pits, volleyball areas, and large picnic shelters. (The picnic shelters are ideal for family reunions, birthday parties or company gatherings and may be reserved in advance by calling 229-768-2516.)

A Facility Use fee of $4 per vehicle is charged at day use areas that have beaches. A $3 boat launching fee is charged at day use areas with boat launching ramps. A Corps of Engineers Annual Day Use Pass may be purchased for $30 and a duplicate annual pass may be purchased for $15. The Corps of Engineers Annual Day Use Pass is honored at Corps of Engineers day use areas and boat launching ramps nationwide. The annual pass is in effect from January 1 to December 31.  Eight county and municipal parks located on the lake offer similar facilities and day use areas as well.
